Our Direct Support Professional’s primary objective is to help our clients achieve their short and long term goals. They assist in creating a positive learning environment, so that our clients may become more independent in their daily lives.

TRANSPORTATION

Caregiver-based transportation offers clients access to shopping, community events or other services as requested.

ATTENDENT CARE

Caregivers provide in-home services, assisting clients in their homes with day-to day-business and activities.

RELIEF CARE

For those with authorized Relief Care, 16 to 24 hours of respite is available for parent or guardian of those with intellectual/developmental disabilities.

BUDGETING

Using easily understood terms, we offer support with the tasks of creating shopping lists, learning price comparison, managing the checking out process, and handling the counting of returned change. We also help establish wants vs needs with regard to available funds.

MEAL PLANNING

 Attention to dietary restrictions and/or preferred meal plans is the basis for assistance in choosing recipes, creating grocery lists, and preparing meals. Also teaching food safety and encouraging independence.

LIFE SKILLS

Working with the client to establish a healthy lifestyle, good study habits, healthy relationships, self-care and becoming an inclusive member of their community.

HOUSEKEEPING

Guidance for keeping a clean and tidy living space, including the creation of a schedule for cleaning and laundry. Encouraging the use of time limits for accomplishing a specific task.

COMMUNITY INCLUSION

Promoting client inclusion within their communities in order to provide an environment where they can thrive and learn.

SHOPPING

Assistance with grocery lists, entering and exiting the store, price comparison, pointers for reaching and carrying items.

SAFETY MONITORING

Showing clients how to go about their daily lives, tasks and activities in a safe and responsible manner. Ensuring clients have the proper safety equipment. Reinforce awareness of people unfamiliar to them including on the phone or internet, specifically how to recognize financial fraud.

BEHAVIORAL SUPPORT

Use of coping methods: redirection, recognizing behavioral triggers and helping to maintain focus.

TIME MANAGEMENT

Supporting clients to accomplish daily tasks and errands in a logical and timely manner as well as allowing time for learning, community activities and supports.
